Condensation of capillary water and decreased surface energy cause increased soil water repellency in sandy soil

چکیده

Abstract Predicting soil water availability to crops in water‐repellent sandy is complicated as repellency (SWR) responds non‐linearly content. Others have hypothesised that the development of a monolayer molecules results SWR increasing before declines with further increase In previous study, we found increases when above 0.28–0.86% threshold Thus, our objective was determine underlying mechanisms responsible for why certain content soil. A adsorption isotherm constructed by exposing relative humidity (dynamic vapour sorption technique) evaluate if increased response. The 0.66% coincide capillary condensation inverse gas chromatography technique used first time particles' surface energy analysis investigate determining total, dispersive (non‐polar), and specific (polar) at two humidities (0% 90%). Wettable (98% organic carbon removed) included control assess influences mean dispersive, decreased both wettable soils exposed 90% humidity, suggesting there limited effect on since most removed from We also investigated any difference heterogeneity gain insight into chemistry surfaces. Simulation of heat and water transfer in a surface irrigated, cropped sandy soil

Field experiments were conducted to validate a one-dimensional numerical Simple Soil Plant Atmospheric Transfer (SiSPAT) model that simulates heat and water transfer through the root zone of a surface irrigated, cropped sandy soil. The model accounts for the dominant processes involved in water and heat transfer in a cropped soil. Model validation used field experimental data from 2004 and sugg...

Soil and Water Salinity

Definitions and forms of salinity All natural waters contain soluble salts. The concentration of the salts determines whether the water is of high quality (drinkable or usable for irrigation without need for special precautions) or of low quality (brackish or saline). Water in the soil also contains soluble salts (sometimes called free or nonattached salts). The amount of salts in the root zone...

Assessing Relation of Soil Hydrophobicity and Soil Water Content and Determining Threshold Moisture of Organic Soil Samples

Soil water content is the most effective factor associated with the hydrophobic and hydrophilic changes in a soil. Water repellency in soils, is not a permanent feature; it can be reached in the dry season and reduced or eliminated in the wet season It can be said that in terms of moisture, there is a critical region that is defined as the threshold moisture content, where in lower moisture, th...
